Victor Uriah Jennette, 72, of 490 Makelyville Road, Scranton, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at UNC Hospital/Medical Center, Chapel Hill.
Born in Hyde County, January 31, 1935, he was the son of the late B. C. “Papa B” and Lillie Green Jennette. He worked for many years in textiles with Dupont Corp. where he retired at the age of 50. Following his retirement he devoted his time to helping people in the community demonstrating his heart for others. He was presently serving as vice-president of the Hyde County Historical and Genealogical Society and attended Epworth United Methodist Church in the Sladesville Community.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Warner Cemetery on Loop Road. The Reverend Valerie Ballance and Steve Bryan will officiate.
Surviving are his wife of almost 49 years, Kay Paul Jennette; a son, Victor Uriah Jennette, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Grifton; a daughter, Cindy J. Cole and her husband, Stacy of Kinston; a brother, Charles Jennette, a resident at Cross Creek Health Care Center in Swan Quarter; a sister, Wilma J. Blake of Portsmouth, VA; three grandchildren, Krystal Nicole Jennette, Collin Uriah Jennette and Shana Miller; a special niece, Norma Jean Blake Mello of East Freetown, Mass.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Horace Jennette and Delbert G. Jennette and a sister, June Marlowe Hamilton.
