Mrs. Rosa Lee Singleton Powell, 79, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Plymouth Church of Christ with the Rev. Bob Moulden officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Powell was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 30, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Albert Leaster and Sally Mae Lee Singleton. She was a LPN with Beaufort County Hospital for one and one half years and LPN with the Washington County Health Department for 20 years. She was married to Johnny Herman Powell, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Plymouth Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, William Stanley Powell of Garner, Johnny Albert Powell of Columbia and Gordon Ray Powell of Plymouth; five daughters, Linda Lee Winslow of Garner, Mary Frances Morgan of Tarboro, Marie Annette June of Conway, S.C., and April Delores Powell and Alice Faye Raynor, both of Plymouth; two grandchildren whom she raised, James Wallace Walker and Brandi Walker Moore; four brothers, Albert Louis Singleton of Greenville, LeeRoy Singleton of Raleigh, Lt. Col. Paul Leaster Singleton of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Henry J. Singleton of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Alice Marie Warrner of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dottie Ann Powell Walker.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ’s family life center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roanoke Hospice operations in Washington County or the Plymouth Church of Christ, designated for a needy family.
