Rev. William Harold Lewis

LOWLAND — Rev. William Harold Lewis, 80, died November 29, 2007 at Britthaven of Pamlico. He was born February 7, 1927, son of the late William L. and Outa Ireland Lewis. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Libby Foreman and Julia Potter and two brothers, Prince Lewis and Dalton Lewis.
Rev. Lewis started preaching in 1950. He pastored and evangelized for over 45 years, having pastored the Petersburg, Va. Pentecostal Holiness Church for 3 years, the Hobucken Pentecostal Holiness Church for one year and pastored the Lowland Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 24 years and was a member of the NC International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Brother Harold retired in 1990. Rev. Lewis was well known as “Soldier of the Cross.”
He is survived by his wife, Frances P. Lewis; two sons, the Rev. Phillip Michael Lewis and wife, Tammy of Edward and the Rev. Terry Lee Lewis and wife, Marie of Aurora; one daughter, Sharon L. Rice and husband, James of Lowland; one brother, Michael Lewis of Lowland; three sisters, Mabel L. Carawan of Aurora, Marilyn Murphy of Alliance and Victoria Paul of Alliance; four grandchildren: Renee R. Wasula of Greenville, Rachel R. Jones of Hawaii, Denise Vilches of Aurora and Jonathan Lewis of Aurora; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Lowland Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop Chris Thompson, the Rev. Phillip Lewis and Rev. Terry Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in the Lowland Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bryant Funeral Home, Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
