Mr. Camillus Holiday “Cam” Rodman, Sr., age 85, a resident of 136 Shady Banks Beach Road, Washington, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at his home.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Father Kevin Johnson and the Rev. Janet Rodman.
The following will serve as honorary pallbearers: George Gardner, Dr. Zeno Edwards, Dr. Fred Howdy, Jimmy Hill, Dr. Dave Tayloe, Edward Rodman, Dr. William Kidd and Edmund Buckman.
Mr. Rodman was born in Washington on October 4, 1922. He was the son of the late Dr. John Croom Rodman and Olzie Clark Rodman. Mr. Rodman graduated from Washington High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of the Varsity Basketball team at U.N.C. from 1942 to 1943. Mr. Rodman served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Certified Public Accountant and operated his own accounting practice.
On March 6, 1948, Mr. Rodman married the former Helen Mishoe, who preceded him in death, October 21, 2006.
Mr. Rodman was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the Ramblers Supper Club. He was a member of the first City of Washington Recreation committee. Mr. Rodman was a member of the Washington Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of First Citizens Bank, past treasurer of Washington Lion’s Club, and former member of the Tranters Creek Hunting Club.
Mr. Rodman is survived by three sons; Camillus H. “Cambo” Rodman, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Washington, John D. Rodman and his wife, Janet of Washington, Douglas M. Rodman and his companion, Sally Minshew of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Holly Rodman Riggs, Cam Rodman III, Seth Rodman, George Rodman, Jack Rodman, Ashley Rodman and Chandler Rodman; and three great grandchildren, Anna Riggs, Logan Riggs, and Macie Rodman.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Rodman was preceded in death by five brothers, John Rodman, John C. Rodman, Archie C. Rodman, Owen G. Rodman, and Clark Rodman; and one sister, Olzie C. Rodman.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 136 Shady Banks Beach Road, Washington.
