Mrs. Earnice McCarter Grist, 69, of 2502 New Bern Ave., New Bern, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Oscar’s Mortuary, New Bern, with the Rev. Antonio Grice officiating. Burial will follow in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Grist was born in Pitt County and lived in Washington before moving to New Bern in 1958. She was married to Army Lee Grist, who survives. She was a member of Deeper Life Tabernacle Church.
Survivors include five sons, Harvey Grist Sr., Lorenzo Grist, Dana Grice and Anthony Grist, all of New Bern, and Lindsay Grist of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one daughter, Earnecia Grist of New Bern; three brothers, Grinder Spencer and Larry Spencer, both of Norfolk, Va., and Jerry Spencer of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Gloria Hitchcock and Evelyn Jenkins, both of New Bern; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Harvey Grist, 2800 Moore Ave., New Bern.
Viewing will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Oscar’s Mortuary, New Bern.
