Mr. Allen H. “Big Al” Weathersbee Jr, 67, of Roper died Dec. 29, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
He was born July 28, 1940 in Martin County, the son of the late Allen H. and Mabel Ayers Weathersbee and was preceded in death by a son, Ricky A. Weathersbee. He was the owner/operator of Roper Auto Sales and Big Al’s Garage and a member of the Plymouth Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served on the Roper Planning Board.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Vanhorn Weathersbee of Roper; daughter Susan W. Outlaw of Pine Knoll Shores; sisters Ann W. Davenport of Raleigh, Annette W. Nicholson of Plymouth and Lois W. Mitchell of Roper; brother William Weathersbee of Raleigh; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Plymouth Church of Christ with pastor Bob Moulden officiating. The family will receive friends in the Church Family Life Center following the service. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home in Creswell.
