Mr. Walter G. Davenport, 68, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate his life.
Mr. Davenport was born May 13, 1939, the son of the late Warren Davenport and Orpha Davenport McLaughlin. He was married to Janice Davenport of Washington, who survives.
Survivors include one son, Glen Davenport of Washington; one grandchild; one sister, Esther Ruth Tony of Charlotte and one brother, Wade Davenport of Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local ALS Society.
