Mr. Gerald Alvin Silverdahl, 56, of Columbia, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with the Rev. Joseph Wynns officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Mr. Silverdahl was born in Portsmouth, Va., on March 5, 1951. He was the son of Irene Cahoon Silverdahl and the late Henry Silverdahl. He was an Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a marine maintenance welder. He was married to Sandra Markovich Silverdahl, who survives.
Survivors include five daughters, Laura M. Silverdahl of Nashville, Tenn., Melanie R. Orlanda of Palmdale, Calif., Lisa A. Stone of Cincinatti, Ohio, Kristen Raposo of Kenosha, Wis., and Allison M. Rhodes of Columbia; three sons, Joseph T. O’Donnell of Nashville, Tenn., Christopher H. Silverdahl of Opelika, Ala., and Jacob C. Rhodes of Greenville; two brothers, Gene Silverdahl of Farmville, Va., and Lawrence Silverdahl of Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
