Helen James Mobley passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at Pinecroft Baptist Church on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 12 noon, with Dr. Gerald V. Stump officiating. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
Helen was born on October 31, 1930 to the late Joseph Harris and Minnie Warren Harris in Raeford, N.C. She was a homemaker. Helen was an active member of West End Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. for many years where she sang in the choir. She later joined Pinecroft Baptist Church where she was active in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and a member of the Forever Young group. She loved painting and traveling.
Helen was preceded in death by her two husbands, Hermon Matthew James, Sr. and Thomas Claire (Smoke) Mobley; her parents, two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Diane James Sockwell and husband Rowe of McLeansville, Jannett James Martin and husband Rick of McLeansville, sons, Hermon Matthew James, Jr. and wife Cathy of Wilmington, N.C. and Stephen Alan James and wife Paula of Greensboro; stepsons, Tommy Mobley and wife Iris, Bill Mobley and wife Letha, both of Washington, N.C.; one sister, Kathleen Jarrell of Asheboro, N.C.; eleven grandchildren, four stepgrand-children; eight great grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends on Friday night from 7-9 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Street Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West End Baptist Church, Washington, NC in her memory.
