Mrs. Lovye Cox Brantley, 83, formerly of 304 Main St., Edward, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Britthaven of Washington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Oakhaven Cemetery, Edward with pastor David Linton officiating.
Mrs. Brantley was born in Pitt County on July 25, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Horace Cox Sr. and Lovye Janie Huff. On Aug. 10, 1942, she married Archie Merle Brantley, who preceded her in death April 1, 1993. She owned and operated Aurora Hardware with her husband for more than 30 years. She was a member of Edward Christian Church, where she was a member of the Senior Saints.
Survivors include one son, Archie M. Brantley Jr. of Edward; two daughters, Lucille B. Marra of Rome, Italy, and Edith B. Stilley of Blounts Creek; one brother, Joseph Horace Cox Jr. of Stem; one sister, Sarah Milligan of Wake Forest; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Warren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
