Mr. J. Russell Thomas, of 211 Ashley Lane, Chocowinity, died Saturday afternoon February 2, 2008 after a long and courageous fight with metastatic prostate cancer.
Born December 9, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late Frank and Phyllis Pfeilmeir.
Russ graduated from King’s College in 1959, and married his sweetheart, the former Marguerite Fleschut, 3 years later. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary June 30, 2007.
In addition to his wife, Russ is survived by three loving children, Joseph Thomas of Laurel, Maryland, Stephanie Thomas of Denver, Colorado and Gregg Thomas of Long Beach, New York; brother Frank Pfeilmeir of Reston, Virginia and sister Margaret Paddick of Naples, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, 900 John Small Avenue, Washington, NC 27889
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Association for Cancer Research in Russ’s name.
