Mr. Nathan Cole Sr., 86, of 624 White Oak Lane, Plymouth, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hillside Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bob Moulden officiating.
Mr. Cole was born in Onslow County on Nov. 16, 1921. He was the son of the late James Edward and Lucy Williams Cole. He was married to Loren Tetterton Cole, who preceded him in death. He later married Minnie Sutton Cole, who survives. He was a retired pulp mill operator with Weyerhaeuser and a farmer. He was a member of the Albemarle Hunting Club. He attended Plymouth Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Jane Perry and Carolyn Arnold, both of Plymouth; two sons, Gilbert Warren Cole of Missouri and Nathan “Skeeter” Cole of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Bertha Lee Whitley and Mary Ann Roth, both of Plymouth, and Lettie Sawyer of Elizabeth City; four brothers, James Richard “Tom” Cole, David “Johnny” Cole and Jonas Wayne Cole, all of Plymouth, and Deems Cole of Edenton; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Carolyn C. Atkins of Virginia Beach, Va., Marion Malone and Raleigh Ted Charlton, both of Chesapeake, Va.; three stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Leslie Cole and one sister, Retha C. Cadan.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Walker Funeral, Plymouth, and other times at the home.
