Mrs. Lib A. Womble

Mrs. Maggie Elizabeth “Lib” Alligood Womble, 72, of 223 Woolard Lane, Washington, died Thursday, February 21, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, with pastor Ken Cash officiating.
Mrs. Womble was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 12, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Robert Edward Alligood and Millie Clark Alligood Banks. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association. She was a member of the Babe Ruth Auxiliary when she lived in New Bern. Mrs. Womble was married to Linwood Kaffer Womble Sr., who preceded her in death, Feb. 3, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Womble of New Bern, and Linwood K. Womble Jr. of Washington; three brothers, Robert E. “Blue” Alligood of Greenville, Callas “Earl” Alligood of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Bobby Womble of Washington; two sisters, Peggy Wilson and Debbie Tyndall, both of Greenville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Alligood Gaskins and Hilda “Joyce” Alligood Henson.
The family will receive friends today from 7p.m. to 9 p.m at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
