Mrs. Revonda “Vonnie” Boyd Somers, 68, of 226 Village Circle, Washington, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, Washington, with pastor Danny Barrow officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Somers was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 12, 1939. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Martha Boyd. She was a graduate of Pantego High School. On Oct. 6, 1967, she married Billy Daniel Somers, who preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2001. She was a retired printing press operator with Morgan Printers. She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Rachel Annette Clark of Pactolus, Deborah W. Sneed of Hamilton and Peggy Whitehurst and Joyce Blackmon, both of Washington; four sisters, Charlotte B. Myers and Joyce B. Godley, both of Washington, Frances B. Brooks and Magdalene B. Sizer, both of Pantego; three brothers, Roy Boyd of Greenville, Clinton Boyd of Washington and Wade Boyd of Pinetown; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Boyd, Pal B. Ange and Phyllis B. Alligood and three brothers, Dallas Boyd, Hallas Boyd and Ferrell Boyd.
