Mr. William “Roger” Bowen, 68, of 34 Pond Acres, River Road, Washington, died March 10, 2008 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington, with the Rev. James Green officiating.
Elton Clark Jr., Frankie Bowen, Al Ange, Dave Clark, Sylvester Rogers and Ray McKeithan will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Bowen was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 9, 1940. He was the son of the late Willie J. and Lucille Boyd Bowen. He served in the National Guard. On Nov. 2, 1962, he married the former “Lottie” Carol Cahoon, who survives. He retired from Grand Union (Big Star Grocery Stores) with 28 years of service. Later, he was manager of Empire Gas for six years. For the past nine years, he had worked in the circulation department at the Washington Daily News. He was a member of the Long Acre Christian Chapel Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Brandi Beth Bowen of Raleigh and one brother, Frankie J. Bowen of Plymouth.
The family will receive friends today from noon to 3 p.m. at the home.
