AYDEN — Mr. Edwin Jerome “Buddy” Harrington, 70, died March 16, 2008, at Lenoir County Hospital in Kinston, N.C.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, officiated by Allen Ham, chaplain, Caswell Development Center. Burial will follow in Ayden Cemetery.
He was born on August 13, 1937 in Greenville, N.C., the son of Zelota McGlohon Harrington and James Edwin Harrington. Edwin spent the first 19 years of his life with his family and lived the rest of his life at Caswell Development Center. He was a “ray of sunshine” to all who knew him. A special thank-you to the staff, social workers and nurses for their loving help and compassionate care for the many years Edwin lived at Caswell Center. Also a special thank-you to Allen Ham and the nurses and doctors at Lenoir County Hospital as they ministered to him in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caswell Center Foundation, PO Box 1459, Kinston, NC 28503.
Survivors include his mother, Zelota Harrington; his sister, Brownie and her husband, George Stancil, and his nephew, Scott and wife, Daniale Stancil.
The family will receive friends after the service.
