Ms. Janie Sue Griffin, 75, of 504 Park St., Williamston, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Macedonia Christian Church in Williamston. Burial will follow in Tice Cemetery.
Ms. Griffin was born in Martin County on Sept. 1, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Jimmettie and George C. Griffin Sr. In 1956, she became a charter member of the Farm Life Ruritanettes and received an award for perfect attendance in 1976. In 2000, she retired from Dell-Mars Beauty Shoppe after working 40 years with her sister, Della James. She was a member of Macedonia Christian Church and was an active member of a church circle at Piney Grove Baptist Church. She also attended Maple Grove Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Vera Ruth Morris of Newport News, Va., and Della G. James of Williamston.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, S.D. Griffin, Garland Griffin, Harold Griffin, Leon Earl Griffin and George C. Griffin Jr., all of Williamston.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
