Mrs. Shelby Modlin Mizell, 70, of 187 Ormond Lane, Bath, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Paul Funeral Home, Washington, with pastor Gary C. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Bayview Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Mizell’s grandsons: Jason Lewis, Brandon Mizell, Kevin Brown, Craig Mizell, Eric William Huntzinger and Michael Wayne Mizell Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Mizell was born in Beaufort County on June 1, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Burley Leamon Modlin Sr. and Margie Lee Clark Modlin. On Oct. 8, 1958, she married Leamon Raeford Mizell Sr., who survives. She worked as an assembler at Stanadyne Corp. for 10 years until her retirement in 2005. She attended New Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church in Blounts Creek as her health permitted.
Survivors include three sons, Gary C. Lewis of Blounts Creek, Leamon Raeford Mizell Jr. and Michael Wayne Mizell Sr., both of Washington; one daughter, Kathy Mizell Bright of Bath; one sister, Linda M. Mizelle of Washington; two brothers, Burley Roscoe Modlin Sr. of Swan Quarter, and Frankie H. Modlin of Bath; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons: William Lawrence Lewis and Jimmy Dean Bright Jr. and three brothers, Floyd C. Modlin, James Russell Modlin and Burley Leamon Modlin Jr.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
