SIMPSON — Mrs. Evelyn Elks Edwards, 78, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Edwards, a native of Pitt County, had made her home in Simpson since 1948. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Edwards in 2002, her sisters, Dallas Boyd and Janie Brame and a brother, Tommy Elks.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda E. Smith and husband, Joe, of Simpson; two brothers, Lester Elks and wife, Dot, of Grimesland and C.S. Elks and wife, Nellie, of Chocowinity; one sister, Doris Moore of Charlotte and three sisters-in-law, Vivian Holloman, Pansy Edwards and Sara Menard.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joe &Linda Smith.
