Mrs. Dora Mae Briley Keel, 87, of 3738 Cherry St., Bethel died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at her home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Raymond Whitehurst officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. Keel was born in Holland, Va., on Aug. 3, 1920, to the late Agustus Crummel Briley and Dora Dean Johnson Briley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Keel and a daughter, Dorothy Mae Rose. Mrs. Keel worked for the Pitt County School System as a lunchroom assistant for 19 years. She was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mabel Latham of Marion and Sue Shackelford and Daphne Pate, both of Bethel; one son, Ray A. Keel of Macclesfield; two sisters, Margaret Boyette of Bethel and Rebecca Johnson of Speed; one brother, Robert Briley of Bethel; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home-Ayers Chapel in Bethel and other times at the home of Mrs. Sue Shackelford, 3852 Cherry St., Bethel.
