Mr. Rome “RJ” Rogerson Jr., 83, of 8325 U.S. Highway 17, Williamston, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Macedonia Christian Church, with Dolan Baker, the Rev. Roger Leggett and Greg Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in the Rogerson family cemetery in Bear Grass.
Mr. Rogerson was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Martin County, to the late Rome Rogerson Sr. and Louella Roberson Rogerson. He was a retired farmer and USDA inspector. He was married on April 15, 1948, to the former Pattie Price who survives. Mr. Rogerson was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Macedonia Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife Pattie P. Rogerson; three sons, Robert Godfrey Rogerson and wife Julie of Bear Grass, Neal Rogerson and wife Kim of Bear Grass and Rodney Rogerson of Bear Grass; three daughters, Lavone Donaldson and husband Choppey of Bear Grass, Colar Kay Elswick and husband Larry, and Patsy Barnes and husband Wade, all of Greenville; two sisters, Cena Rogers and Faye Rogers, both of Bear Grass; his grandchildren, Laurie Raynor and husband Chris, Sgt. Jamie Donaldson, Krista, Kevin and Brandon Barnes, Scott, Shae, Janie, Megan, Misty and Skyler Rogerson; four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Macedonia Christian Church and other times at the home.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Macedonia Building Fund, U.S. Highway 17, Williamston, or Relay for Life, c/o Macedonia Christian Church.
