Mrs. Sue Wallace Tyer, 63, of 118 N.E. 46th St., Oak Island, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Hillside Funeral Service in Washington, with the Rev. Curtis White officiating.
Mrs. Tyer was born on August 14, 1944, in Bath. Her parents were the late Purvis and Lena Woolard Wallace. Following graduation from East Carolina University, she held teaching positions in Beaufort County, Fayetteville and Kinston City school systems.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Arthur Tyer and Dean Thomas Tyer, both of Oak Island; and a sister, Sylvia S. Winfrey, of Newport News, Va.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Inurnment will be private and at a later date.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
Arrangements are by Peacock-Newnam &White Funeral Home in Southport and Hillside Funeral Service in Washington.
