Mrs. Kay Shelton Waters Lyda, 72, of 821 Mt. Vernon Road, Greer, S.C., died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the atrium of Evangel Cathedral with the Revs. David Waters and Jerry Clevenger officiating. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lyda was born in Eden, the daughter of Lessie Pratt Shelton of Greer, S.C., and the late John L. Shelton. She was married to the Rev. Maynard L. Waters, who preceded her in death. She later married Roscoe Lyda, who survives. She was a substitute teacher, was involved in the music ministry and was a pastor’s wife. She was a member of Evangel Cathedral.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Hannon of Greer, S.C., and Pamela Carson of Bath; two sons, the Rev. David Waters of Ft. Riley, Kansas, and Steven Waters of Grifton; three stepsons, Michael Lyda and Dan Lyda, both of Easley, S.C., and Roderick Lyda of Westminster, S.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour at Evangel Cathedral and other times at the home of her daughter, Teresa Hannon, 110 Vandiventer Drive, Greer, S.C.
