Mr. Miles Wade Ireland, 60, of Leland and formerly of Lowland, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wardens Grove F.W.B. Church with the Revs. Earl Sadler and Taffy Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowland Community Cemetery.
Mr. Ireland was married to Nancy Ireland of Leland, who survives. He was a tugboat captain with Express Marine for 35 years. He was a member of The Meeting Place Church.
Survivors include one son, Miles Wade Ireland Jr. of Aurora; one daughter, Tammy Ireland Ganues of Grantsboro; one stepdaughter, Kirsten Spurling of Wilmington; four brothers, Casper Ireland and Danny Ireland, both of Lowland, Jerry Ireland of Reelsboro, and Robbie Ireland of Engelhard; one sister, Karen Stowe of Chocowinity; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 3-5 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home, Alliance, and at other times at the home of Casper Ireland, Middle Prong Road, Lowland.
