Mrs. Magdalen Schweier Beuret, age 103, of 121 Iron Creek Commons, Washington, N.C., died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, Ind. Father Carl Hawver, OFM, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mrs. Beuret was born in Hartford City, Ind., on December 30, 1904, to the late Emil A. and Mary Cain Schweier. She was a graduate of Hartford City High School and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree in nursing. She also attended St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On May 23, 1929, she married Harold DeWald Beuret, who preceded her in death on September 19, 1964. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and also Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Washington, N.C.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Beuret Szymeczek and husband, Frank, of Washington, N.C.; one sister, Patricia Pruitt of Anderson, Ind.; five grandchildren, Sophia S. Pike and husband, Dave, of Farmville, N.C., Stephen Szymeczek and wife, Mary, of Greensboro, N.C., Dr. Caroline L. Szymeczek and husband, Dr. Walter Bollenbacher, of Chapel Hill, N.C., James Szymeczek and wife, Beth, of Wilmington, N.C., and John Szymeczek and wife, Dr. Sonja Szymeczek, of Cary, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren, Emily Strickland of Bell Arthur, N.C., Katie Stokes of Farmville, Mary Kordan of Farmville, N.C., Mary Anne, Matthew and Suzanne Szymeczek of Wilmington, N.C., and Elizabeth and Sarah Szymeczek of Cary, N.C. She was preceded in death by seven sisters, three brothers and one daughter, Marie.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Tom Mungovan Funeral Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
