Mrs. Audrey Leigh Sikes Boyd, 70, of 1153 Respess Road, Pinetown died Wednesday, May 07, 2008 at her home.
A funeral service will held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Mike Caton officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Craig Boyd, Christopher Boyd, Brian Moffitt, Ray Sikes, Gary Sikes, Wayne Sikes, Garrett Boyd and Phil McRoy will serve as pallbearers. Doug Boyd, Todd Boyd, Lee Sikes, David Sikes and William Gerald Boyd, Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service, Washington and other times at the home, 1153 Respess Road, Pinetown.
Audrey was born in Beaufort County on March 27, 1938 to the late Raymond Leroy Sikes and Audrey Alligood Sikes. On December 26, 1955, she married Hugh Norton Boyd, who survives. She was a devoted wife and mother who helped with the family farm. She was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ and previously an active member of Everett’s Church of Christ.
Audrey graduated from Bath High School in 1956. She graduated from Beaufort County Community College in 1991 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Norton Boyd of the home; a son, William Earl (Billy) Boyd and wife, Vickie of Bath; two daughters, Karen Leigh Boyd of Pinetown and Audrey (Elaine) Boyd Thurmon and special friend, Mitch Biggs; two grandsons, William Craig Boyd and wife, Elizabeth Sloan Boyd of Four Oaks, and Christopher Michael Boyd and wife, Sarah Wuntke Boyd of Greenville; one granddaughter, Candice Marie Boyd Moffitt and husband, Brian Moffitt of Mt. Pleasant; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Clark Moffitt and Samuel Christopher Boyd; three brothers, Raymond Earl Sikes and wife, Norma of Kensington, Md., Allen Randolph Sikes and wife, Donna of Bath, and Lindsay Sikes and wife, Sandra of Washington; and one sister, Alice Marie Welch and husband, A.J. of Neptune Beach, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Daniel Sikes.
