Mrs. Betty Grissom Elks, 70, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Walker Funeral Home-Horner Chapel in Plymouth with the Revs. Sherman Branch and Leonard Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Elks was born in Beaufort County on April 4, 1938. She was the daughter of Annie Bell Nobles Grissom of Chocowinity and the late Arthur Willard Grissom. She was married to Ernest D. “Happy” Elks, who survives. She was a former secretary with Weyerhaeuser. She was a member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Elks Chesson of Kill Devil Hills; two sons, William Dempsey Elks of Chapel Hill and David Ray Elks of Kerrville, Texas; one brother, Willard O’Brien Grissom of Chocowinity; one sister, Carolyn G. Haddock of Greenville and four grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Walker Funeral Home-Horner Chapel in Plymouth.
