Mr. James A. Williams of 1084 U.S. Highway 64 East, Plymouth, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Plymouth, with pastor Benjamin James officiating. Burial will follow in Spruill’s Eternal Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born in Aurora on Oct. 3, 1923. He was the son of the late Handy and Emma Watson Williams. He was married to Annie Williams, who survives. He had been employed as a crane operator with Georgia Pacific. He was a member of Guiding Star Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Roberson of Fayetteville, Annie Jackson of Roper, and Gloria Boone of Plymouth; two sons, James E. Williams Jr. of Carrboro and Samuel E. Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Ina Williams and Winnie Dudley, both of Manhattan, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vernice Garrett.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service, Roper.
