Mr. William Rayvon Taylor Sr., age 79, of 1781 Taylor Road, Chocowinity, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at his home.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be conducted by Rev. Ola Forbes, Jr.; Connie Taylor Lewis, William Rayvon Taylor, Jr., William Ryan Taylor, Ledrue Buck, William Earl Keys and Robert Speller, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Taylor was born in Beaufort Co. on February 14, 1929 to the late William Rufus Taylor and Dollie Elks Taylor. He was a 1947 graduate of Chocowinity High School and then served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Taylor married Melva Hope Hodges on December 29, 1953, who preceded him in death on October 17, 2007. He was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church and was a farmer, farming with his brother and, in the later years, with his son William.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Taylor Lewis and husband Lenwood of Grimesland; his son, William Rayvon, Jr. and wife Felecia of Chocowinity; his grandson, William Ryan Taylor of Chocowinity; two brothers, Lloyd Taylor and wife Jo of Chocowinity, Haskell Taylor and wife Faye of Chocowinity, and one sister, Della Mae Stubbs of New Bern.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruth Taylor, Mildred Taylor, Esther Buck, Margaret Gilgo and Judith Martin.
The family will receive friends at Mr. Taylor’s home, 1781 Taylor Road, Chocowinity.
