Mrs. Pearl Elizabeth Harris, 82, a resident of 806 Whooten Town Road, Washington, died Saturday May 17, 2008 at the Beaufort County Hospital.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Curtis Gardner officiating. The family received friends following the service.
Mrs. Harris was born January 10, 1926 in Beaufort County.She was the daughter of the late Archie King and Surnobia Dowdy King. She was a graduate of P.S. Jones High School Class of 1944. On June 16, 1951, she married Guy L. Harris, who survives. Mrs. Harris was a teacher’s aid in Brooklyn, NY for four years and a homemaker after her retirement. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Washington.
Survivors with her husband include two sons, Jerome Harris and wife Jezra of Brooklyn, NY, and Eric Harris and wife, Anesa of Raleigh, NC; three sisters, Velma Tyre and Barbara Lilley, both of Washington, NC and Ariston Gorham of Virginia; two brothers, Zeno King and Lawrence King, both of Washington, NC; and three grandchildren, Erica and India Harris of Raleigh, NC and Laurika Harris of NY.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Archie King, Jr., Charles King, William King, and Calvin King.
