Mrs. Mabel Bonner Allen, age 89, formerly of Aurora, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at the Two Rivers Healthcare Center, Trent Campus in New Bern.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Aurora and will be conducted by the Rev. Fred Fordham. Burial will follow in the Aurora Cemetery. Nathan Heine, Marvin Sartin, Donald Bennett, Dick Nanney, Malcom Rowe and Etles Henries Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Allen was born in Aurora on August 13, 1918, to the late George Glenn Bonner, Sr., and Nita Cuthrell Bonner. She was a graduate of Aurora High School and a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church of Aurora. She married C.T. “Big Boy” Allen, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Tavares of Aurora; two sons, C.T. “Tommy” Allen of Wilmington, Dale “Gus” Allen of Aurora, six grandchildren and two great grandsons. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Bonner Broome and one brother, George Glenn Bonner, Jr.
