Sue Margaret Crumpler McLean, born Norfolk, Virginia, August 12, 1913, daughter of the late Dr. Earnest L. Crumpler of South Hampton County, Virginia and the late Margaret Smith Crumpler Capehart of Windsor, North Carolina.
Married to William Peterson McLean, March 31, 1935, he preceded her in death in 1973.
Survived by one son, William P. McLean, Jr, Fox Rise, Boyce, VA. Two grandsons, William, III of Berryville, VA and Richard Allen McLean of Williamsburg, VA and one granddaughter, Susan Elizabeth Wood of Gloucester, VA; six great-grandchildren and several nephews, and two nieces.
She was the oldest of four sisters who all preceded her in death, Frances Crumpler Jordan, Ruth Crumpler Martin, and Clara Crumpler Jordan Weathers.
She was a life long member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, Washington, NC serving as Parish secretary for a number of years. Served as president of St. Peters Churchwomen, member of Major Reading Blount Chapter, Daughters of American Revolution Pamlico Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Queen Anne’s Chapter of Daughters of the American Colonist of Wilson, NC.
Interment will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the McLean Family plot in Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC and a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Washington, NC.
