Mrs. Irene Albertson Wagner, a resident of 308 College Avenue, Washington Park, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, Washington, conducted by Rev. Danny Allen. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Wagner was born in Camden County on October 3, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Albertson and Elizabeth Virginia Parker Albertson. Mrs. Wagner was manager at Guy T. Swindell Jewelers for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the E. Frank Ruble Sunday School Class, the Linda Titus and Sarah Cutler Circle and the Washington Park Garden Club.
She was married to J.J. “Jim” Sawyer, who preceded her in death. In August of 1947, she married James Glenn “Choppy” Wagner, who preceded her in death on August 15, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Sawyer Cayton of Washington, Rebecca Margaret “Becky” Wagner Ward of Washington, and her husband, Taylor Ward of Conway, N.C.; one brother, Jarvis Albertson of South Mills, N.C.; five grandchildren, Wagner Ward Fields and her husband, Brian Fields, Kristin Taylor Ward Warren and her husband, Gilbert, Lindsey Rebecca Ward, Wesley Glenn Taylor Ward and James Lee Hartsell and two great grandsons, Tanner Brian Fields and Andrew Glenn Fields.
The family will receive friends at the home, 308 College Avenue, Washington Park and following the service at the church.
