Ms. Takareatha S. Phelps of 302 Newby St., Roper, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Roper with Elder Benny Mackey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Phelps was born in Roper on Sept. 14, 1956. She was the daughter of Malisise Jones Stallings and the late Jordan Stallings Sr. She had been employed at Washington County Hospital and Wrangler’s. She was a member of the NAACP and DAV Auxiliary Chapter 62. She was a member of Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), where she was a member of the young adult choir.
Survivors include one son, Kumasi of Durham; one daughter, Fredericka Phelps of Durham; four grandchildren; three brothers, Ricky and Jordan of the home and David Stallings of Windsor and one adopted sister, Janice Elleg of Pantego.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Tony in March 2003.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service, Roper.
