Mr. Thurston Jerome Peele Sr. of 368 Farmview Court, Winterville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Ridgewood Manor in Washington.
A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Promiseland Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, with Elder Shelton Keyes officiating. Burial will be in James Cemetery, Jamesville.
Mr. Peele was born June 29, 1951, in Martin County. His parents were the late Katherine Rodgers and Jonah Peele Sr. He was a mechanic at Cox Direct in Washington. In 1973, Mr. Peele married Jacqueline D. Armstrong. He was a member of Promiseland Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. Mr. Peele graduated in 1969 from E.J. Hayes High School. He was an Army veteran, having served from 1971-76. Mr. Peele served in Vietnam.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Charlene Armstrong of Winterville and Latonya Williams and Shanta Becky Peele, both of Greenville; one son, Thurston J. Peele Jr. of Greenville; two sisters, Daphine Tyson of Wilson and Theresa Copeland of New York; one brother, Russell Peele of Jamesville; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Peele was preceded in death by a daughter, Terrance Yvette Peele, and by a brother, Jonah Peele Jr.
Arrangements are by Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service in Roper.
