Mrs. Geraldine Smith Carrow, 68, of 1482 West Barr Road, Chocowinity, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Michael Combs and the Rev. Mike Scott officiating. Mrs. Carrow’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at her home.
Mrs. Carrow was born August 27, 1939 in Craven County. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur O. Smith and Gladys Belle Lewis Smith. She was a graduate of Farm Life High School in Vanceboro. On May 30, 1957, she married Arthur Ray Carrow, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Carrow lived in Beaufort County for 51 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Vanceboro, where she served on the benevolence committee, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and a Sunday School teacher as long as her health would allow.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelby Carrow Ives and husband, Troy of Chocowinity; one son, Perry D. Carrow of Chocowinity; three brothers, Donald Smith and wife, Ellen of Washington, Ronald Smith and wife, Pattie of Cove City, and Bobby Smith and wife, Geneva of Vanceboro; two sisters, Lois Fornes and Betty Barr, both of Chocowinity; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, and Casey Ives, all of Chocowinity, Courtney Carrow of Chocowinity, and Chandler Carrow of St. Mary, Fla.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Elitha Jenkins; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Barr and Frank Fornes; and one nephew, Rod Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the charity of one’s choice.
