VANCEBORO — Mrs. Joyce McGowan Wilson Proctor, 76, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Mrs. Proctor, a native of Pitt County, lived most of her life in Craven and Beaufort Counties. As the wife of the Rev. William Earl Wilson, she supported his ministry throughout North Carolina until his death in 1990. She later married James W. Proctor, who died in 2007. Mrs. Proctor attended the Tabernacle Holiness Church in Vanceboro for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Marie Wilson Anderson and husband, Calvin, Brenda Wilson Davison and husband, Stick, all of Vanceboro, and Deborah Wilson Thomas, of Chocowinity; step-son, Selby Proctor, of Smithfield; grandchildren, Cliff Anderson, of Mt. Airy, Ashley (Andy) Anderson, of Wilmington, and Gwendolyn Joyce Haddock, of Vanceboro; great-grandchild, Nathan Manning, of Aurora; brothers, A. J. McGowan, of Norfolk, Va., and Charles McGowan, of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; sisters, Lillie Rivera, of Elyria, Ohio, Caroll Griffin, Barbara Ann Lewis, both of Harker’s Island, Margie Morris, of Charlotte, and Belva Wells, of Newport.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
