Mrs. Anna Ball Arthur Mayo

Mrs. Anna Ball Arthur Mayo, age 75, a resident of 330 Riverside Road, Washington, NC died Monday afternoon, June 30, 2008 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday July 3, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington officiated by the Rev. Darryl Evans. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Wayland J. Sermons, Jr., F. Ray Moore, Jr., Seth H. Edwards, Daniel S. Mayo, Jr., E. Spencer Mayo, John A. Mayo, III and David C. Mayo will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Raleigh, NC on August 9, 1932 daughter of the late Charles Davis and Anna Ball Thomas Arthur. She was a graduate of Needham Broughton High School and St. Mary’s College in Raleigh. On April 25, 1957 she married local attorney, William Patrick Mayo, who survives. Mrs. Mayo was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Washington.
In addition to her husband of the home, she is survived by her children, Anna Ball Mayo Orton and her husband, William David Orton of Fredericksburg, VA and William Patrick Mayo, Jr. and his wife, Tracy Woolard Mayo; two grandchildren, Anna Lane Mayo and William Patrick Mayo, III, all of Washington; and her sister, Elizabeth Arthur Bell of Raleigh, NC.
The family will receive friends at the home on Wednesday evening.
