Mrs. Lois Potter Paul, 95, a resident of Britthaven of Washington died Sunday June 22, 2008 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Rev. David Pierce. Interment will follow at Belhaven Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Paul was born on August 1, 1912 to the late Edward Ross Potter and the late Permelia Jane Smith Potter. She attended grammar school in Winsteadville and graduated from Pantego High School. She was married to the late Thorne Hunter Paul. Mrs. Paul was a homemaker and had worked as a receptionist for a number of years. She volunteered in the community with meals on wheels. Mrs. Paul was a member of the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Paul is survived by three grandchildren; Stephen Paul and wife Katie of Greenville, NC, Amanda Ward and husband Chris of Williamston, NC, and Allison Hoggard and husband Ernie of Windsor, NC; four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Peyton, Courtney and Davis and many close family and friends.
Mrs. Paul was preceded in death by two sons; Jackson Potter Paul and Ellis Hunter “Butch” Paul; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Hoggard; two sisters, Mandy P. Brinn and Ruby P. Robbins and five brothers: Mac Potter, Warren Potter, Napoleon Potter, Harold Potter and Hubert Potter.
