Mrs. Ruby Coburn Leggett, 88, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Lewiston. Burial will follow in Hoggard Memorial Cemetery, Lewiston.
Mrs. Leggett was born in Bertie County on Oct. 8, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary Lee Coburn. In 1942, she married James “Jimmy” Bryant Leggett, who preceded her in death. She was first a member of Republican Church, where she was active in the WMU. She was later a member of Lewiston Baptist Church, where she was also active in the WMU.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Manning of Lewiston-Woodville; one son, James L. Leggett of Spring Hope; two grandchildren; one stepgrandchild and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Coburn and Leslie Coburn; two sisters, Minnie Cooper and Fannie Lee Wynn; one grandson, Michael Douglas Leggett and one great-grandson, Evan Michael Davis.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor.
