Mr. Clifton E. Warren, 77, died Sunday, July 13, 2008.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Warren, a native of Pitt County, had lived in Greenville for 25 years, and then moved to the Stokes community. He was a graduate of Stokes High School, and was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the Greenville Police Department for 30 years, retiring as lieutenant in 1984. For 40 years he owned and operated Warren Mowing and Landscape Service. Mr. Warren was a member of the Sweet Gum Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Stokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer N. and Daisy Cox Warren, and brothers, Ed N. Warren, Kenneth Elmer Warren, and Jack S. Warren.
He is survived by his: wife of 53 years, Nancy W. Warren; daughter, Debbie W. Hardee, of Washington, NC; son, Clifton E. Warren, Jr. and wife, Angela, of Stokes; grandchildren, Austin W. Hardee, of Washington, NC, Brandon C. Warren, of Stokes, Rochelle W. Claybourne, of Grifton, and Jordana Warren, of Ayden; great granddaughter, Hailey Claybourne; brother, Donald R. Warren and wife, Linda, of Pactolus; and sister, Sherry W. Clark, of Youngsville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
