Mrs. Doris Virginia Kissling Hamilton, 82, of 168 Warren Lane, Belhaven, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church in Washington, conducted by the Revs. L. Spotswood Graves and Darryl Evans.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mendham Hilltop Cemetery in Mendham, N.J.
Mrs. Hamilton was born in St. Louis, Mo., on June 4, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Albert Jacob Kissling and Viola Gertrude Olive Kissling. She was married to Neill Hamilton, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was a violin teacher. She served on the board of the Little Children of the World. She was the founder and director of the Beaufort County Community Orchestra as well as a member of numerous other orchestras. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the church choir.
Survivors include three sons, Neill Q. Hamilton II, Esq. of Summit, N.J., Patrick S. Hamilton, PhD. of Newton, Mass., and Scott A. Hamilton, MD of Lafayette, La.; three sisters, Beverly Rosengren of Ridgewood, N.J., Dolly Bachman of Cohoes, N.Y., Charlotte Kissling of San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, the Rev. Albert Kissling of Las Cruces, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
