Mrs. Charlie Elizabeth Mendenhall Force, 81, of Wilson Street Extension in Plymouth and Rome Mountain, Tenn., died Friday, July 18, 2008, at Williamston Rehab.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Holliday Cemetery.
Mrs. Force was born in Martin County on Nov. 2, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Sir Walter Mendenhall and Minnie Milles Mendenhall. She was married to Benjamin L. Barber, who preceded her in death. She later married Howard L. Force of Plymouth, who survives. She was a retired cook, having worked at the Old Southern Diner and Weirs Coffee Shop in Williamston. She attended Macedonia Christian Church and the Baptist church in Rome Mountain, Tenn.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Rogerson and Alice Coffield, both of Williamston; one son, Benjamin L. Barber of Plymouth and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Williamston, and other times at the home of her daughter, Marie Rogerson, 1020 Urban Rogers Road, Williamston.
