Mr. Willie James Miller, 63, of 10 Nevada St., Boston, Mass., died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Pilgrim Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Scranton, with pastor Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Davis family cemetery, Scranton.
Mr. Miller was born in Selma, Ala., on June 19, 1945. He was the son of the late Solomon and Hattie Sturdivant Miller. He attended the Selma, Alabama Schools. He served in the Armed Forces. On July 1, 1967, he married Lovie D. Davis Miller, who survives. His employment was as a large machinery mechanic. He was affiliated with Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Lovie Denise Thomas; one son, James Tyrone Miller; six brothers, Nathaniel Miller of Boston, Mass., Leon Miller of South Carolina, John Miller of Maryland, Samuel Ward Jr. of Nevada and Jessie Miller and Clarence Miller, both of Sacramento, Calif.; eight sisters, Charlotte Brantley, Lizzie Gooding and Addie Miller, all of Boston, Mass., Hattie Davis of North Carolina, and Carolyn Vinson, Doris Ward-Kamp, Martha Ward-Hunter and Opernia Ward-Pate, all of Sacramento, Calif.; stepmother, Eloise Ward-Miller of Sacramento, Calif.; several stepbrothers and sisters and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until 1 p.m. at Mount Pilgrim Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Scranton.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
