Mrs. Callie Phrocine Windley Boyd, age 93, a resident of 376 Respess Road, Pinetown, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at Everetts Church of Christ, conducted by Dennis R. Davis. Burial follows in Windley Cemetery, Respess Road, Pinetown.
Mrs. Boyd’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Bobby Price, Jr., William L. “Lanie” Price, Timothy Boyd, Jay Boyd, Mark R. Boyd, Butch Oliver, Gregory Ormand, Jr., Steve Van Staalduinen and Derek Woolard. Her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on July 17, 1915. She was the daughter of the late William Samuel Windley and Ada Elizabeth Braddy Windley. Mrs. Boyd was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College. She taught 4th grade at Pinetown school for a short time. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Everetts Church of Christ, the Ladies Aide of the church and the Pinetown Senior Citizens.
On May 27, 1938, she married Ferrell Vance Boyd, who preceded her in death, March 3, 1989.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by three daughters, Annie B. Price and her husband Robert E. Price, Christine B. Oliver and her husband Fernie H. Oliver, Jr. all of Pinetown, Barbara B. Young and her husband James H. Young of Franklinton, N.C.; one son, Robert F. Boyd and his wife Jackie S. Houston of Greenville; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 376 Respess Road, Pinetown.
