Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Warner Winstead, 88, of 215 Benson Drive, Rosedale community, Washington, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Oakdale Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Michael Price officiating. Her grandsons, David Winstead Jr., Chris Leggett and Chris Linnen and nephews, Lee Warner, Steve Berry and Kenneth Donald Berry will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Winstead was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 22, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Wall Warner. On April 24, 1940, she married James David Winstead, who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1992. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Willing Workers Sunday school class and Christian Women Fellowship.
Survivors include three sons, William Ottis “Billy” Winstead and David Ray Winstead Sr., both of Washington, and Robert Franklin “Bobby” Winstead of Macon, Ga.; one daughter, Kathy Winstead Linnen of Washington; one brother, Charlie Warner of Washington; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph “Joe” Warner and James Warner and one sister, Gertrude Berry.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.
