Mrs. Eloise Spencer Rhodes, 86, of Columbia, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden.
Born in Tyrrell County, she was the daughter of the late J.C. and Rennie Armstrong Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delaver A. Rhodes, and daughter Rusti Rhodes. Mrs. Rhodes was a retired nurse with the Tyrrell County Health Department and member of Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church.
Her family includes her stepson, Larry Rhodes and wife, Carol, of Eden; stepgrandchildren, Denise Balser and Diane Smith of Eden; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jessica Carter, Brandon Balser, Matthew Balser, Caitlin Smith, Kendra Smith and Jenna Smith; stepgreat-great-grandchild, Makayla Hairston and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, July 27, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home Chapel, Creswell, with Dr. Jeff Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 27, 2008, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tyrrell EMS, P.O. Box 81, Columbia, NC 27925 in her memory. The family greatly thanks all the staff at Morehead Nursing Center for the outstanding care provided to her during her stay. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
