Mr. Johnnie Martin “Snooks’ Moore, Jr. age 74, a resident of 205 Smaw Road, Washington, passed quietly to his Savior on Friday evening July 25, 2008, at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday July 29, 2008, at the chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by his nephew, Minister Johnny Anderson. Burial will follow in Snowd Branch Church of God Cemetery.
Lee Ferguson, Ronnie “Meatball” Godley, Andy “Tex” Melton, Sam Coward, David Evans, David Woolard and Troy Cutler will serve as pallbearers. Les Ball will be listed as a honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Moore was born in Beaufort County on September 30, 1933, son of the late Johnnie Martin Moore, Sr. and Lossie Harding Moore. On April 20, 1957, he married the former Nellie Vaughn Jenkins, who survives. Mr. Moore served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a construction electrician and was employed with GUC, Stackhouse and River City Construction until his retirement. He was a member of Cow Horn and Oakland Farms Hunting Club. Mr. Moore was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, Nellie Vaughn of the home, he is survived by his son Lee and his wife, Melissa; two grandsons, Justin “Weasel” Moore and Brodie Moore; and his brother Shelton Moore, all of Washington.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Jones and Irene Anderson.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
