Mr. Earl Thomas Satterthwaite, 80, of Plymouth, died on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ in Roper with Mark Wilmoth officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Satterthwaite was born in Beaufort County and was the son of the late Eustus and Nettie Nixon Satterthwaite. He was a retired utility mechanic with Weyerhaeuser Corporation for 34 years and a member of Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ . He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II with service in Iceland.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha Copeland Satterthwaite of Plymouth; daughters, Judy S. Wobbleton of Plymouth and Martha S. Hobby of Winterville; a son, Joe Satterthwaite of Plymouth; sisters, Doris S. Johnson of Belhaven and Helen Satterthwaite of Pantego; brothers, Jim Satterthwaite of Pantego and Bruce Satterthwaite of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Guy Satterthwaite and Richard Satterthwaite.
The family will receive friends at Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and other times at the residence.
Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
