SNOW HILL — Mr. William Ray Clark, 72, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Pitt Memorial Hospital following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Greene County, Ray was born Jan. 27, 1936, the son of John D. and Maggie Toler Clark. He was a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on many church committees and remained as active as possible even through his sickness. Ray had retired from E.I. DuPont in Kinston and was a Mason in Radiance Lodge No. 132 in Snow Hill.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Free Union FWB Church, 2573 Firetower Road, Walstonburg, with the Rev. Alan Joyner and the Rev. Glenn Turner officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara “Becky” Patrick Clark; a brother, John C. Clark; and his parents-in-law, the Reverend C.L. and Clara Smith Patrick.
His surviving family includes his daughters, LuRae Clark Tyndall of Mount Olive and her fianc/, Jeff Sutton, and Christy Clark Turner and husband, Glenn, of Deep Run; sisters, Margaret C. Radford of Snow Hill, Addie C. Beaman of Dover, Del., and Lillian C. Ricketts of Morehead City; his sisters-in-law, Carol Clark of Snow Hill, Barbara Patrick Herring of Kinston and Sue Patrick Hamm and husband, Royce, of Aurora; a brother-in-law, Wayne Patrick and wife, Margene, of Greensboro; grandchildren, Christen Tyndall and Lindsey Tyndall, both of Mount Olive, David Turner, Bethany Turner and Sarah Turner, all of Deep Run; and a great-grandchild, Jayden Bradford.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, 117 NW Third St., Snow Hill, N.C., and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Free Union FWB Church, 2573 Firetower Road, Walstonburg, NC 27888.
